Well, maybe it wasn't Duke, and maybe it was Operation Bayshield. Oh well.

Nah. It's just been almost 20 years.

I don't remember being overly impressed with Blahbalicious.

And I do remember the first quake machinima I watched featured Duke Nukem talking about girly-men or something.

So there!

The fact that you are asking these questions illustrates that you have not viewed the required viewing which I have instructed you to view.

Is Apartment Huntin' the one where you meet a certain tough-talking guy from another 3-D PC game?

I vaguely remember Blahbalicious. I'm guessing the humor doesn't hold up? :P

This is required viewing for anyone who wants to play FvF!
There will be a test. The penalty for failing....

Back in the early days of Quake, Machinima was born.

Well, it had been around for a while, but this was when it really started picking up steam.

People would use Quake to record scenes, and edit the scenes together and add dialog and stuff to tell stories. These would be shared as Quake demos.

One of the early great ones was Apartment Huntin' by the ILL Clan.

These demos should be watched as they were originally intended -- as Quake Demos (no youtubing!).

Get Apartment Huntin' from Quakeone: http://quakeone.com/files/8-media/162-a ... ake-movie/

(I wonder how it will look in modern clients....)
Actually, I do recall that it was made with non-transparent water, and using transparency causes you to see more than you should in one part, so it's better to watch it (at least the first time) with r_wateralpha 1.

The next must-watch Quake Movie is Blahbalicious, which has its own Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blahbalicious

And still has its own web page too: http://www.quakewiki.net/archives/blah/

Though the download seems dead there, so grab it from Quake Terminus: http://www.quaketerminus.com/movies.shtml

Yep, this is what Quakers were doing back in 96-97....
