Re: Transparent liquids
Oh, there is one other option that can work, but it's a hack and can harm your FPS*. That is typing: r_novis 1 in the console.... If you use either of the more-correct methods above, you should make sure r_novis 0 is set instead. *If you are running Quake on a potato. That said, the server you're p...

You broke it!! *SOLVED*
You broke it! You blew up the world! Now what am I gonna do? I guess I'll have to sit in the corner and talk to myself until FvF comes back...

Re: What Quake engine do you use for FvF Quest?
I tried to vote for too many options, so I voted for what I use most frequently, which is Fitzquake Mark V. I would have voted for Proquake and Darkplaces as well if I was allowed. I tried Fitz Mark V because Gunter's been pushing it like a drug dealer, and I was too lazy to correctly install Darkpl...

Re: Recording FvF Games for YouTube
In the old days, we recorded demos and Fraps'd the demo... but Fraps sucked because it wasn't free, and it has the rather extreme limitation of recording into a raw, uncompressed format, which resulted in an absolutely massive file, and that sucks. OBS seems pretty good. I've never used it personall...

Re: Do you use the "Always Run" menu option? You shouldn't.
There's definitely something going on here. I remember a long time ago reading about adding cl_forwardspeed 999, cl_backspeed 999, and cl_sidespeed 999 into autoexec.cfg, and I did it, but at the time I never noticed anything. And then, after coming back to Quake after being away for a while... the ...

Re: I miss you quake
Well, this is a really late reply... just checked in to see if anything was going on. Yeah, I remember you, Nitro. And yeah, I do download things, but most of it isn't XXX. I have a bandwidth cap on it that makes it so it shouldn't interfere with FvF, but sometimes I get impaitent and raise it. My r...

Re: FvF server going down
I put the server back on a wired connection (was using Wireless G before). This will lead to a lower, more stable latency for everyone (including myself, heh)

Re: FvF server going down
Yeah sure, you can post my email address. downgraded286@yahoo.com So the fvf.servequake.com dns is pointing to the dns I have control over. Cool... I guess that means I don't need hub.quakeone.com anymore? My IP really only changes if I want it to. You can hard-code my current IP if you want to, it ...

Re: FvF server going down
Yes you can point one dns to another dns. I control my quake1.ath.cx dns on the dyndns website (yes, it should update itself if the IP changes if I put my username/password in the router). The hub.quakeone.com dns is pointed to my quake1.ath.cx dns. Why not just use the fvf.servequake.com dns for my...

Re: FvF server going down
Is there a way to point the fvf.servequake.com DNS to port 26001 of quake1.ath.cx? Don't have it pointed to my IP, my IP changes a lot and I can change the IP the quake1.ath.cx DNS points to.

Re: FvF server going down
I think it would be better to have fvf on the default port. Nobody uses the hub tbh (I look at the erver console every so often, it almost never has anything about players connecting), everyone just directly connects to wherever they're going. If someone wants to play on the hub, they'll connect to ...
