Re: What has two thumbs and sits on Gary Gygax's toilet?
He seemed to be doing well last summer: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/8646/megary2wc3.jpg Aside from his chronic heart problem, he had taken a fall in December, and that had not helped matters.... Oh yeah, I did get this picture of a note in his curio cabnet from Futurama: http://img158.imagesh...

Re: What has two thumbs and sits on Gary Gygax's toilet?
Gary died.... http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/03/04/obit.gygax.ap/ I'm glad I had the chance to meet him. Even if you guys weren't really familiar with him or never played D&D, he was responsible for a lot of the popularity of fantasy and RPG games, and maybe things like the FvF mod wouldn't exist ...

Re: Very nice, congrats.
You should be able to just start the game with -dedicated and then in the server console, type: quest That alias should be set up to start you up in quest mode. You can type any other commands in the server console too... like skill 3 if you want it to be harder or e1m1 if you wanna change to that m...

Re: Very nice, congrats.
Yeah, the server doesn't get much action these days.... The Turk is about the only one that makes use of it a lot. I guess you'll just have to invite friends to play it with you. To get the Doom Marine in the standards FvF you had to hold down the fire button as you change classes. Also, the version...

Re: Gunter - proquake feature suggestions
Very nice!
I tested it and it works correctly with my dial-up connection; no "-ip" command needed. And it's still able to connect me to a server that I run locally as well (10.0.0.1).

Mmkay.
OgrO's skins were originally for Tenebrae, so there's no telling how well Darkplaces handles them in their original format. Apparently not that well.

Re: Female Quake 1 skins
It would make more sense to program a modified Quake server than to program a whole separate proxy program to do the same thing.
Though I have no idea if either is possible.

i.e., it ain't gonna happen.Gunter wrote:That would require a heavily modified server and client.
The simplest solution would be to program a mod that had both male and female models, but that, of course, would require downloads.

Re: Female Quake 1 skins
That would require a heavily modified server and client. At the start of every level, the server has to precache all the models needed on that level. If the client connects and can't precache all the models from that list, the client will be stuck in the console.

Re: Pistol Mouse First Impressions
Well, I use the scroll wheel to scroll up and down the page. Or I click the scroll wheel to get the little "page scroll" cursor to appear... With the right software you could probably program the scroll wheel to do whatever you want. As for getting better with it... practice? You can twist...

Re: ProQuake 3.99a
The mouse cursor still gets trapped inside the window, as I described before. This makes it impossible to drag the window to a new postion on my screen.... After exiting the game, the cursor was trapped in that same area at first, but then it got freed and could move all around the screen again, how...
