Full version link is broken?

Post by Svperstarr »

I was going to download the full version of FvF and play it single player but the link http://fvfonline.com/fvf42R.zip is broken. Any chance someone can host it somewhere?

Thanks

Nevermind I found it in the Wayback Machine. I also emailed it to myself so I will never lose it :)

Seems to be gone again! What date did you find it in the archive?

There's something weird going on with the web server. That file keeps vanishing every time I re-upload it, after about a day. I've filed a support ticket with the web host....

Meanwhile, the Internet Archive does still have the file: https://web.archive.org/web/20220119041 ... fvf42R.zip

Well, they started off saying, "Upon checking we could not find the fvf42R.zip file on the domain fvfonline.com. There is a probability that you may have deleted it accidentally."

Uh, yeah, I know you can't find it. I just opened the ticket to report that the file was repeatedly being deleted, hah.

And the probability that I deleted it myself was Zero (after I'd told them it happened 3 times already). I tried uploading it again, and after it vanished again I replied and suggested it was some over-zealous script on the server that was looking for malware and deleting it...

They said they checked and there weren't any cron jobs set to delete the file automatically....

I uploaded the file again to multiple locations to watch to see if they all got deleted, but then they finally forwarded me to someone who knew what they were doing, who said:

"Most likely the malware scanner.
Will add your account to the whitelist"

So it shouldn't be deleted again...

But I still wonder what the heck in the FvF files could remotely look like malware.... There's not even anything executable in there; it's a Quake Mod!

It was deleted again

I contacted support once more to see if they can get their malware scanner to stop being dumb.

Seriously, there's not even anything in the file that could look remotely like malware. There's no executable, just mod files for Quake.
